TRIAL OF ALEXANDER THE GREAT
Procedures:
  1. Bailiff escorts the Defendant (Alexander) into the courtroom to the Defense Attorney table
  2. Bailiff: “All rise!”
    “The Honorable Judge ___________________ presiding. “ All may come forward and be heard.”

  3. Judge: The defendant will rise for the reading of the indictment.” Bailiff , please the counts of the indictment.”
  4. Bailiff: “On the first count of (example; murder in the first degree); How do you plead?”
  5. Judge: “So noted.”
  6. Bailiff: On the second count of ... etc.)
  7. Judge: “Thank you Bailiff”
  8. Judge: “The Prosecution may make its Opening Argument.”
  9. Prosecution Attorney: “Ladies & Gentlemen of the Jury. The
    Prosecution will prove....Thank you!”
    1. Judge: “The Defense may make its Opening Argument.”
    2. Defense Attorney: “Ladies & Gentlemen of the Jury. The
Defense will prove....Thank you!”
  1. Judge: “The Prosecution may call its first witness.”
  2. Prosecution: The Prosecution calls _______________ to the
stand.”
14. Bailiff: “Put your left hand on the holy book and repeat

after me. I (State your name), do solemnly swear, to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help me by the gods.” “Be seated”.
15. Prosecution Attorney begins questioning.......”No more questions for this witness Your Honor.”
16. Judge: Does the Defense wish to cross-examine this witness?”
17. Defense Attorney: “Yes, Your Honor.” or “No, Your Honor.” or “Not at this time, Your Honor, but the Defense reserves the right to recall the witness later.”
  1. Judge: Call your next witness...etc.
  2. Prosecution Attorney: No more witnesses Your Honor.
The Prosecution rests.”
  1. Judge: The Defense may call its first witness...etc.”
  2. Defense: “ No more witnesses Your Honor. The Defense
rests.”
*Once both sides are done the Judge will say...
Judge: “The Prosecution may make its closing argument.” Prosecution Attorney: “Ladies & Gentlemen of the Jury, (reviews the

main points and evidence of the case against Alexander. Therefore there is only one verdict you can have. You must find the Defendant
GUILTY on all charges. Thank you!” Judge: “The Defense may make its closing argument. “
Defense Atttorney: “Ladies & Gentlemen of the Jury, (reviews the main points and evidence of the case in
favor of Alexander. Therefore there is only one logical verdict you can have. You must ACQUIT the Defendant on all charges and render a

verdict of NOT GUILTY. Thank you!”
  1. Clarifying Questions and statements for discussion from the Jury to be answered by the teacher, judge or peers.
  2. All Jurors submit their vote in secret.
  3. The Bailiff will collect and count the Guilty and Not Guilty
    votes and give the results to the Judge for review.
  4. Judge: “The Bailiff will read the verdict. Will the Defendant
    and his attorneys please rise.”
  5. Bailiff: On the first count of the Indictment, (state the
    charge), the Jury finds you _____________________!”
  6. Judge: “Order in the Court! I will not tolerate any
    outbursts!” “Bailiff continue.”
  7. Bailiff: “On the second count of the Indictment...etc.”
  8. Judge: “Thank you Ladies & Gentlemen of the Jury.”
  9. Judge: “The defendant and his Attorneys will please rise.”
10. Judge: (Option A) “Alexander the Great, this court
has found you (Guilty) of the charge of ________________. This Court hereby sentences you to...” Bailiff, remove the prisoner .”
Judge: (Option B) “Alexander the Great, this Court has found you (Innocent) on all charges. You are
free to go.”
  1. Judge: “This Court is adjourned!” Slam the gavel.
  2. Bailiff: All rise! (Judge exits the courtroom)
